Systematic Review

A comprehensive systematic review will be conducted to map the individual factors associated with susceptibility to and dissemination of fake news. This review will inform the theoretical foundation of the project and contribute to international academic literature.

Scientific Article

A peer-reviewed scientific paper will be produced, presenting the main findings of the FACTCHECK study. It will include detailed analysis of the Portuguese population’s ability to detect and share fake news, considering psychological, social, and digital variables.

Final conference and eBook

A public final conference will be organized at the end of the project to present the main results and outputs.

The event will include:

  • Panel discussions with academics, policymakers, journalists, and civil society;
  • Presentation of the national survey findings and policy recommendations;
  • Interactive workshops to promote media literacy, aimed at enhancing critical thinking skills and responsible information consumption;
  • Official launch of the project’s open-access eBook, compiling key insights, stakeholder contributions, and strategies to counter disinformation.
  • Accessible online news database for researchers

    An accessible online news database will be created based on the manipulated news images used in the survey.

    It will be freely available to researchers interested in conducting experimental studies in the field of misinformation and disinformation.

    This database represents a major scientific and social output, promoting open science and enabling further research.
