Inês Sousa Guedes (PI)

She has a PhD in Criminology from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (FDUP) and is an Assistant Professor in Criminology at the same Faculty. She is a researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice (CIJ) and a collaborating member of CEJEA at Lusíada University, Porto. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Portuguese Language Criminology Association. In recent years, she has been a speaker at national and international conferences in the areas of feelings of insecurity, cybercrime and disinformation. She has led projects on disinformation, fake news and victims of hate crime, funded by Cardiff University, the La Caixa Foundation and the European Commission. In her career, she has published more than 50 national and international articles/book chapters in different areas of criminology.

Samuel Moreira

He has a Bachelor's, Master's and PhD in Criminology from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (FDUP). He is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of Lusíada University (FDUL) in Porto and an Invited Assistant Professor at the FDUP, teaching in all cycles of study in Criminology. At the same time, he is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Doctorate in Criminology at FDUP. He is an Integrated Researcher at CEJEIA (Centre for Legal, Economic, International and Environmental Studies) at FDUL and a Collaborating Researcher at CIJ (Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice) at FDUP. His main areas of teaching and research include (in)security, policing and cybercrime.

Carla Sofia Cardoso

She has a degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (1994) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto (2002). She is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (FDUP), where she teaches in the three cycles of study in Criminology. She is an integrated member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice (CIJ) at the FDUP and a collaborating member of the Centre for Legal, Economic, International and Environmental Studies (CEJEIA). She participates in international research projects and networks (e.g. GERN, ISRD-IV). Her main research interests are experimental criminology, biosocial and developmental criminology, urban security and policing.

Gilda Santos

She holds a Ph.D in Criminology from the Faculty of Law, University of Porto, where she is also an Assistant Professor in Criminology. As part of her research activities, she is an integrated researcher of CIJ – Interdisciplinary Research Center on Justice, with her main research interests focusing on experimental criminology, juvenile delinquency, developmental prevention, and program evaluation. Since 2014, she is the Secretary-General of AICLP – International Portuguese Language Criminology Association.

Margarida Santos

She has a PhD in Criminology and is an Assistant Professor at the FDUP. She is a researcher at CIJ and CEJEIA and is also a member of the Ethics Committee and the Scientific Committee of the PhD in Criminology at FDUP. Her research focuses on the development of antisocial behaviour in young people, early prevention and restorative justice. In the last year, she has coordinated the PROTECT-C project and actively participated in several funded research projects, including DISINFORMATION and SUCCEED. She has published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books and regularly participates in national and international scientific events.

Josefina Castro

She holds a Master's degree in Criminology from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (FDUP) and a degree in Psychology from the same university. She is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Lusíada University - Porto, teaching on the Criminology degree programme. She is a researcher at CIJ - Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice (Faculty of Law of the University of Porto) and CEJEIA - Centre for Legal, Economic, International and Environmental Studies (Lusíada University). Her main areas of research include juvenile justice, developmental criminology and social control systems

Matilde de Vilhena

She has a degree and is doing a Master's in Criminology from FDUP. She did her curricular internship at the CIJ and has published articles and participated in events with oral communications and posters. She has been developing her scientific research in the area of disinformation and its susceptibility factors, with a focus on political disinformation. As well as being the subject of her dissertation, she has already published an article on the subject and presented it at the IJUP, having also taken part as a speaker in open classes and courses on the subject.

Gustavo Sampaio (Advisor)

Journalist and assistant director of ‘Polígrafo’. He previously worked in the newsrooms of the newspaper ‘O Independente’, the magazine ‘Sábado’ and ‘Jornal Económico’. Over a decade, he has published articles in various media organisations, including ‘Público’, ‘Exame’, ‘Fact Magazine’ (London), ‘Ponto Final’ (Macau), among others. He has a degree in Journalism (Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra), a postgraduate degree in Human Rights (Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra) and a master's degree in Political Science and International Relations (Portuguese Catholic University). He was an announcer and programme director at RUC - Rádio Universidade de Coimbra. He is also the author of investigative journalism books such as ‘Os Privilegiados’ (2013), ‘Os Facilitadores’ (2014), ‘Porque Falha Portugal?’ (2016) or, more recently, ‘Os Políticos São Todos Iguais! Assalto à Democracia pelo Culto do Vídeo-Populismo” (2025).
